From Dependence to Independence led by Kate Browning

This session will support teaching assistants to improve the nature and quality of their ‘talk’ to pupils in order to support the development of independent thinking and learning skills, which are associated with improved learning outcomes. It will also focus on the effective use of resources to aid independence in learning and working in effective partnership with class teachers.

This session will help teaching assistants to promote pupil’s independence in learning, particularly for lower attaining pupils and those with SEN through:

  • effective use of questioning
  • utilising resources in the classroom
  • ensuring they are focusing on the learning, not task completion

PLEASE NOTE: This event is a repeat of the 2016-17 session.
