Walsall Subject Leaders

The Gateway Alliance are delighted to be working in partnership with St John’s Primary School in Walsall, to offer a programme of termly Maths and English Subject Leader Network Meetings, for primary schools across the Walsall area.

The subject leader network meetings will:

  • Provide a great opportunity for subject leaders to network & develop their practice
  • Be facilitated by leading subject experts
  • Share the latest subject specific news & updates
  • Be focused on the current “hot topics” for subject leaders

English Subject Leaders:

Time: 12:30-3:30pm

Venue: Forest Arts Centre, Hawkish Road, Leamore, Walsall, WS3 1AG

A light lunch will be provided at 12:30, with the meeting starting at 13:00.

Meet our subject network leaders…

Rachel Clarke

N8J2dkGzRachel will be leading our English subject leader network and has worked in and with primary schools as a teacher, SENCo, Deputy Head and for five years as a Local Authority English consultant. Rachel is a motivational trainer who facilitates the improved understanding, knowledge and skills of others. Rachel is an advocate of collaborative approaches to professional learning and specialises in raising standards in English through CPD; providing school improvement support for leadership teams; creating bespoke support for teachers; and, developing guidance materials for teachers in Coventry, Warwickshire and beyond.

Rachel is a keen blogger, writer of educational materials and user of social media – all of which are utilised to connect teachers within the ‘Primary English’ learning community.

Vivien Townsend

P1030265closeVivien will be leading our Maths subject leader network and is an experienced teacher and former LA adviser who now works as a consultant and trainer specialising in Primary mathematics. Vivien’s CPD sessions are practical, fun and relevant, and delegates always leave with new ideas and strategies to transfer to their own classrooms. She has worked with many schools, subject leaders, teachers and teaching assistants across the Midlands (and beyond), always instilling an enthusiasm for the subject and sharing lots of practical and creative ideas.
Vivien is an NCETM Professional Development Accredited Lead and is a member of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics, the Mathematical Association and the National Association of Mathematics Advisers.
