This week has seen our very first hour-long surgery events for the English, Maths and SENCo networks. These provided an informal opportunity to discuss issues around common themes and dedicated time to seek practical advice from our Network Leaders Ruth Baker-Leask, Viv Townsend and Kate Browning. The breadth of experience and expertise from the network planning teams also proved invaluable to share concerns and ideas within a safe and judgement-free forum.
We have had some wonderful feedback from colleagues:
‘Really useful to chat to other Maths leads about how they are leading, preparing for Ofsted, monitoring impact, what interventions that they have found useful and being innovative’.
‘The chance to hear how other schools are feeling right now and what they are doing’
‘Loved the informality of the session, but it was structured and well led enough to still be very beneficial!’
‘Like the fact we could choose our own breakout rooms and go into different rooms’.
‘Fantastic- advice and a judgement free!’
‘Just having contact with other SENCos and being able to share and try to problem solve together’
This was the first round of three surgery sessions of the year and Gateway Alliance are keen to grow the sessions with more colleagues benefitting from this time to share, reflect and problem-solve. The team hope to see more of our network members at the next Surgery sessions in the Spring Term, so please do join us:
- SENCo Surgery: Monday 28th March 4-5pm
- Maths Surgery: Thursday 31st March 4-5pm
- English Surgery: Wednesday 6th April 4-5pm
