Assistant SENCo Course

Overview
The role of SENCo is a huge undertaking and many schools are opting to appoint an Assistant SENCo to support the operational management of the role.
This 2-day course is designed to provide Assistant SENCos with both the professional knowledge and understanding and the practical skills to be able to support the school’s SENCo with the day-to-day operational elements of SEN Coordination.

Who should attend?
Aspiring SENCos, support staff – Teaching Assistants and/ or HLTAs, any colleague who would like to learn more about supporting the day-to-day operational elements of the SENCo role. This course is suitable to both primary and secondary colleagues.
This course is being run over 2 sessions. Delegates are expected to ATTEND BOTH SESSIONS.
The sessions are taking place as follows:
SESSION 1: Thursday, 9 January 2025 (09:30-15:30)
SESSION 2: Thursday, 23 January 2025 (09:30-15:30)
LOCATION: Southfields Primary School, East St, Coventry CV1 5LS

Kate Browning
Kate is our SENCo Network Leader and she is a well-regarded lead professional both locally and nationally in school improvement for children and young people with SEND. She has over 20 years of experience as a teacher, SENCo, Local Authority School Improvement Officer for SEN and interim Education Development Officer for NASEN, where she supported the delivery of nationwide training on the SEND Code of Practice with the DfE.
