Raising Standards in the Classroom Through Technology
Led by Mr P (Lee Parkinson)
Overview
Part 1: Where does technology fit in today’s classroom? Lee will start the day discussing where technology fits in today’s classroom. He will explain why embedding a positive focus is necessary to help students flourish in the rich digital world they are growing into and will also outline how to embed the computing curriculum effectively.
Part 2: Moving from Consumers to Creators Mr P will discuss how to best utilise technology to not just engage but empower our pupils and support them by removing barriers and allowing them to creatively demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways. He will explore how the creative use of technology can have a positive impact on other areas of the curriculum and start to demonstrate key apps and tools that teachers can use.
Part 3: Apps to bring the curriculum to life Mr P will continue to demonstrate a range of apps and tools to enhance the curriculum sharing real life examples. Teachers will have time to explore, tinker and build their own knowledge and confidence so they can hit the ground running as soon as they get back to class.
Part 4: Working Smarter, Not Harder Mr P will share a broad range of ideas and apps that can make the process of planning, assessing and teaching easier and more current for today’s world. He will explore how technology can save teacher’s time to give more effective feedback and also evidence learning in a more efficient way so teachers can reinvest time in more productive ways.

Lee Parkinson, Mr P, has been a Primary School Teacher for 15 years, during which time he has built a wealth of ideas for how technology can be embedded right across the curriculum. He continues to work part time in school and also leads CPD and INSET training throughout the UK and beyond, focusing on raising standards in the classroom through technology. Through his humorous and engaging approach to life in the classroom, he has been able to support and help teachers transform their curriculum to inspire, empower and make learning more purposeful and accessible for their pupils.
Mr P is passionate about helping as many teachers as possible get a decent work/life balance. He takes a blunt and frank approach to certain classroom practices before sharing ideas and approaches that help raise standards without creating unnecessary workload.
From sharing helpful advice, inspiring ideas and funny insights into life in the classroom, he has become one of the most followed teachers in the UK online. Mr P can also be seen as the resident ‘go to’ teacher on This Morning, alongside creating content in the education space for the BBC.
