Curriculum CPD – Modern Foreign Language

MFL for All: Supporting Every Learner to Achieve in the Primary Languages Classroom

Led by Ellie Chettle Cully

This course will be run over 2 online sessions, delegates should attend both sessions.

Session 1

Teaching languages in the primary classroom can be a challenge. With time and budgetary constraints, how can we help all of our children to know and remember more? This session will focus on:

  • Curriculum sequencing and ensuring progression in speaking, listening, reading and writing across the four years of KS2 language study;
  • Practical ideas for recall and retrieval activities, to make sure learning sticks;
  • Strategies for supporting SEND pupils in language lessons and stretching the more able;
  • How music and songs can be used to engage pupils in language-learning;
  • The role of technology in supporting language lessons.

Session 2: TBC

The second session will explore a different aspect of languages provision and will be agreed based on a needs assessment and feedback from session 1.

This course is being run over 2 sessions. Delegates are expected to ATTEND BOTH SESSIONS.

The sessions are taking place as follows:

SESSION 1: Thursday, 18 April 2024 (13:00-15:30)

SESSION 2: Thursday, 13 June 2024 (13:00-15:30)
