Jimmy Rotheram

Jimmy Rotheram is passionate about supporting schools to deliver music to the best of their abilities, developing both specialist music teachers and generalist class teachers across the world. He has worked with a wide range of organisations globally and his work has featured in The Guardian, on The One Show, Radio 5 Live and BBC World Service. In 2018 he was shortlisted for the Varkey Foundation’s Global Teacher Prize. He has advised the House of Lords and the Department for Education and sits on the Music Education Advisory Boards of the ABRSM, Benedetti Foundation and Music Teacher magazine. In his paltry spare time, he tries not to let the fact that he supports Blackburn Rovers stop him from enjoying football. His debut book, Teaching Primary Music – The Basics, cowritten with Andrew Davidson, is published by Bloomsbury in January 2022 and available from all good bookshops and bad bookshops too.
