Developing Physical Education Provision for your Pupils
Led by Matt Atkins
Overview
These sessions are designed specifically for PE subject leaders in primary schools and will focus on strengthening subject leadership, deepening curriculum knowledge and enhancing the quality of PE across your school. Participants will explore effective strategies for planning a broad, inclusive and progressive PE curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils and receive updates on Ofsted expectations, best practices in teaching and learning and guidance on developing staff confidence in PE delivery. Whether you’re new to the role or looking to refine your leadership skills, this event will equip you with the tools to drive sustainable improvement in physical education.
This course is being run over 2 sessions. Delegates are expected to ATTEND BOTH SESSIONS.
The sessions are taking place as follows:
SESSION 1: Monday 29th September 2025 (09:00-12:00) ONLINE
SESSION 2: Friday 10th October 2025 (13:00-16:00) ONLINE

Matt Atkins
Matt Atkins is an experienced physical education teacher who has set-up his own PE training company – MA Training and Development. After graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Physical Education, Sports Science and Mathematics from Loughborough University, Matt attained his PGCE in Physical Education and completed a master’s degree with distinction in Sport Science: Fitness and Health at Essex University.
Matt is also the author of online ITT resources for Hibernia, an External Tutor for The TES Institute, the Lead Subject Mentor for PE at the Colchester Teacher Training Consortium, an Ofqual External Expert and a Senior Moderator and Team Leader for a Major Examination Board.
