Curriculum CPD – PSHE
Empowering Educators in RSHE: A Comprehensive Approach to Government Guidance, Policy Development, Classroom Activities, and Navigating Sensitive Topics
Led by Vicky Walsh
Overview
This course will be run over 2 online sessions, delegates should attend both sessions.
Session 1:
Join us for an engaging webinar session for PSHE leaders seeking innovative classroom activities. Delve into a wealth of practical strategies curated by Vicky, who prioritises sensitivity and inclusivity in her teaching approach. Throughout the session, Vicky will model such strategies, providing valuable insights into effective content delivery. With dedicated time allocated to each key stage, we will address lesson objectives aligned with guidance and tackle common challenges specific to each year group, including those nuanced and sometimes daunting topics. Additionally, Vicky will share her curated collection of resources utilised in her classroom.
Session 2:
This second session will explore the latest updates on RSHE government guidance, providing participants with a comprehensive overview of current expectations and requirements. Additionally, we will explore the essential components of a robust R(S)HE policy, ensuring clarity and alignment with regulatory standards. Delving deeper, we shall then address the nuanced topic of pupil withdrawal from RSHE sessions, examining which aspects can be withdrawn and how schools can effectively communicate this within their policies and with parents. Lastly, there will be time for reflective dialogue, inviting participants to identify any other sensitive issues that warrant further discussion and to think about actionable insights to enrich teaching practices moving forward.
