Curriculum design for building knowledge, developing creative thinking and promoting independence
During the session, Jonathan will explore the building blocks of innovative curriculum design: from the purpose of education to the rigorous sequencing of knowledge and the development of a concept-based learning approach rich in authentic experiences. Drawing on his ground-breaking work as a primary school teacher, Jonathan will examine how teachers and leaders can create the conditions needed for children to grow into empowered, knowledgeable and creative thinkers who are driven by insatiable curiosity. Throughout the session, delegates will be provided with useful and easily transferable strategies that can be applied immediately in their roles as subject and middle leaders as well as in their own classrooms.
