Our Maths Subject Leader Development Meetings provide an opportunity for subject leaders to come together to:
• Hear the latest news and updates in the world of Primary Mathematics;
• Enhance their leadership skills;
• Explore aspects of pedagogy and
• Network with colleagues to share and develop their practice.
SUMMER TERM MATHS NETWORK MEETING – OVERVIEW:
Our summer term network meeting is another opportunity to meet in person with other maths subject leaders, to share and learn together. The agenda includes an opportunity to: work with others on a response to a classic Ofsted ‘deep dive’ question; consider a school policy for reasoning and collaborate on guidance for teachers in each phase; review the new spatial reasoning toolkit from the Early Childhood Maths Group; and hear about the latest news and updates.
Some resources will be shared electronically in advance so it would be useful to bring these with you to view on a laptop/tablet. Please also bring your school mathematics policy documents and any resources you use for developing pupils’ reasoning skills. Handouts of slides will be provided on the day. We look forward to seeing you there!
MATHS SURGERY:
NEW FOR 2021-22… Our new termly “Maths Surgery” is an informal online drop-in session for colleagues to bring questions, share ideas and develop practice.
Schools who subscribe to the Gateway Alliance – MATHS subject leader network have 1 FREE place per school.
Costs will be incurred for additional places and for schools that do not subscribe. Please contact us for details.

Vivien Townsend
Viv is our Maths Network Leader and is an experienced teacher and former LA adviser who now works as a consultant and trainer specialising in Primary mathematics. Vivien’s CPD sessions are practical, fun and relevant, and delegates always leave with new ideas and strategies to transfer to their own classrooms. She has worked with many schools, subject leaders, teachers and teaching assistants across the Midlands (and beyond), always instilling an enthusiasm for the subject and sharing lots of practical and creative ideas.
Vivien is an NCETM Professional Development Accredited Lead and is a member of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics, the Mathematical Association and the National Association of Mathematics Advisers.
