Our SENCo Network termly development meetings provide an opportunity for SENCos to come together to:

• Find out about the latest national news and updates;
• Develop their skills & knowledge;
• Learn from new & innovative practice and
• Network with colleagues to share and develop their practice.

We will begin this term’s meetings with National Updates in relation to SEND from the DfE, Ofsted, NASEN, latest research and links to new SEND resources. This will include a National Updates Briefing Paper which you can share with SLT and your SEND Governor.

We will then have 2 main areas of focus:

  1. Planning a personalised curriculum for children who are struggling to engage with learning.  This session will include time to look in more detail at The Engagement Model and hear from one of the SENCOs from our group who will share their experience of planning for and supporting children with challenging needs to begin to engage with learning.
  2. This term’s Take-Away will be focused on ‘Supporting class teachers to write SMART and meaningful targets’. This presentation is designed for you to ‘take-away’ and use for training staff back at your school.

We know you value time to network with each other so there will also be some time to share your SEND focused priorities for the year ahead. Kate will also provide a ‘SENCo New Year start-up checklist’.

We will be running our local network meetings in a range of locations across the year and there will also be an online option.
