Sustainability Leads’ Network Meeting

Overview

At Gateway, we are committed to supporting action on sustainability and climate change. Our Sustainability Leads Network is FREE for all schools and, working in partnership with ‘Let’s go Zero’, our sessions will bring schools access to the latest information, updates, resources and best practice, alongside invaluable opportunities to network with colleagues in schools across the region.

During the year we will be bringing together speakers, both from within and outside of education, as well as hearing from invited high-quality, experienced school Sustainability Leads to share practical ideas and proven approaches.

DATE: Thursday 11th June 2026

TIME: 14:30-16:30

VENUE: ONLINE – ZOOM meeting (a link will be sent out a week before)

COST: Free

We will be using Zoom (online video conferencing software) to host this online event. If you have not used Zoom previously, you may need to download the Zoom software either to a laptop, PC, tablet or smartphone, prior to joining. When you have booked your place a link will be emailed to you within 48 hours of the webinar, with further instructions about how to join the event. Sessions are interactive so please ensure you have access to a microphone and camera to get the most out of this event.

Jo Pettifer is the Climate Action Advisor Team Leader for the Midlands working within the Ashden Let’s Go Zero campaign supporting schools, nurseries and colleges on their journey to zero carbon. Her work includes supporting school leaders, Sustainability Leads, Multi Academy Trusts, local authorities and others to carry out projects that reduce emissions, inspire young people and spark change in the wider community.

Before joining Ashden, Jo spent 15 years working in schools, in roles ranging from Teaching Assistant, Teacher, Assistant Head and Trust-wide Sustainability Project Coordinator. She brings this wealth of knowledge of the education sector to ensure that her team of advisors are helping schools embed Climate Action plans into school life in a realistic and meaningful way.

Let’s Go Zero support schools to meet the aims of the DfE Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy, including the expectation that all schools have a Climate Action Plan and Sustainability Lead in place by September 2025.
