Teaching Assistant CPD Programme
Every Interaction an Intervention
Led by Kate Browning & Pam Carpenter
Overview
In this full-day, face to face session, we’ll delve deep into the details of what it means to be a Teaching Assistant (TA) and how to make a real difference in the classroom. We’ll use the latest research to help you understand your role better and support learning effectively.
Throughout the day, we’ll blend theory with practical examples so you can see how it all works in real life. You’ll get to reflect on your own experiences and learn strategies that actually work to help pupils learn better. And because being a TA can be tough sometimes, we’ll also explore ways at improving our self-awareness. We’ll share tips to help you stay strong and support both yourself and the pupils you care about.
By the end of ‘Every Interaction an Intervention’, you’ll feel more confident and ready to make every moment count in the classroom.

Every interaction matters “This course reminded me that even the smallest interactions with children can have a lasting impact on their learning and emotional well-being. Every moment is an opportunity to support their growth, and this realization has transformed the way I approach my role.”
Empowering strategies for real impact “I walked away with powerful strategies for managing stress, scaffolding learning and helping children regulate their emotions. It’s a reminder that, even on the toughest days, our work truly makes a difference in the lives of the students we support.”
Fostering independence in learners “This course reinforced the importance of helping children become more independent in their learning. It provided me with practical strategies to guide them without over-supporting, allowing them to grow in confidence and take ownership of their own progress.”
Supporting children through emotional challenges “The course taught me invaluable strategies for managing children when they’re emotionally dysregulated or displaying challenging behaviour. It emphasized the importance of staying calm, understanding their needs and guiding them to self-regulate.”
